Geoff Allen AM, Director
Geoff is the Founder of the Allen Consulting Group, and Founder and Chairman of the Centre for Corporate Public Affairs.
Geoff advises government departments and leading Australian and multinational companies on public policy issues, regulatory risks, government-business relations, best practice public affairs management, and reputation management.
His current roles include Chairman of the Australian Statistics Advisory Council, National Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), board member of the European Centre for Public Affairs and Asia Pacific Regional Editor, Public Affairs (international journal).
Geoff’s achievements include:
- Member of the Order of Australia for service to business and corporate public affairs
- former Senior Adviser to the Minister for Labour, Federal Treasurer and Leader of the Federal Opposition
- recipient of the Centenary Medal for Services to International Trade Policy and the Melbourne Business School Distinguished Alumni Award
- pioneer of the research and teaching of Social and Political Environment of Business and Business-Government Relations in Australia
- co-founder and foundation Executive Director, Business Council of Australia.
Previous positions include Director of three public companies, Senior Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor at the Melbourne Business School, and Chair of a number of Commonwealth and State Advisory Councils on Business-Government issues.
Geoff was educated at Wesley College, Queens College and Melbourne University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) History and a Master of Business Administration.

Stakeholder engagement and consultative arrangements in government: A collaborative study
The Allen Consulting Group undertook a major study and collaborative learning project entitled Stakeholder Relations in the Public Sector: Innovation in Management on behalf of twenty Commonwealth and State government agencies in 1999 which explored and shared innovative experience and best practice in relationships between government departments and agencies and their particular clients and other stakeholders. This further study establishes that demands for enhanced or new forms of consultation by community and interest groups had intensified in the years since the original study was undertaken, and government agencies recognise that better managing relationships with their constituencies can be as critical to program performance and public perceptions of equity and efficiency as traditional technical skills.
