The benefits to Australian households of trade with China

The Australia China Business Council commissioned a study of the current benefits to Australian households of the trade and investment relationship with China. The analysis attempts to identify general impacts at household level, but without recourse to general economic modelling. Australia and China have a longstanding, mature trade and investment relationship, which has proved the test of time. It continues to grow and evolve to the significant benefit of both countries. Growth in two-way trade has been nothing short of spectacular over the last decade, with acceleration in recent years, and despite the interruption of current economic turmoil is set to continue. China stands at the cusp of becoming Australia’s most important trading partner and increasingly is a key player in Australia’s foreign investment landscape.
