Gorgon Gas: Application for Authorisation of Joint Marketing7/8/2009 The Allen Consulting Group was commissioned by the ACCC to provide advice on the application by the partners in the Gorgon Gas Joint Venture (Chevron, Shell and ExxonMobil) to market natural gas in Western Australia jointly rather than individually. The report reviews the Western Australian gas market structure both now and during the period when gas marketing would occur. Of particular relevance was an assessment of the ability of the GGJV participants to market separately in a comparatively immature market and the capacity to manage market and partnership risk. The other key question was whether a refusal to grant the application would threaten the viability or timing on the project.
